BABUSHKA lost? Track line is going WEST to Russia NOT NORTH to the North Pole

UPDATE 20130715

LOST?  DEFINITELY... THE NORTH POLE IS "NORTH!
HOW WOULD YOU EXPLAIN THIS NEW TRACK TO THE SOUTHWEST?

UPDATE 20130714

CRAZY AND UP A CREEK WITHOUT A PADDLE?
YABETCHA! READ FOR YOURSELF AND DECIDE HOW SERIOUS THESE SHOW-BOATS ARE.
ARE THESE YA-WHOS REALLY GOING TO THE NORTH POLE?  DOUBT IT!

July 14, 2013
We saw the water today, from the top of a ridge! It's fun and it motivates you most enjoy more of lakes and channels through the ice. We hope to join tomorrow and end the obsession that torments us for several days.
It is 50 miles to the WNW in Barrow, which positions us well for our next rather rise to the north.
We had a day nostalgia too, since two years ago, on 13 July, seb and Rodolphe sprang Barrow for the first edition of the way the pole. Today we take advantage of the experience gained, especially with the new dry suits and shoes canyoning that simplify passages with water and constant swimming.
No fireworks for us tonight (unless that a bear visit us), we're going to go to bed early!
Thanks for all the encouragement and messages that our routers that help us get out of the maze of ice.

UPDATE 20130713

I DON'T BELIEVE BABUSHKA HAS THE BEST TECHNIQUES TO ENABLE 'TRAVELING' IN WATER OR ON ICE. HAD THEY, THEY WOULD OF BEEN HUNDREDS OF MILES FURTHER TOWARDS THE NORTH POLE THAN THEY ARE AS OF TODAY.  HERE IS A RE-POST FROM THEIR BLOG: (GOOGLE DOES NOT SPEAK FRENCH LIKE A NATIVE FRENCH SPEAKER.... LOL SORRY FOR THE STRANGE ENGLISH - GOOGLE, YOU NEED TO TREAT THIS AS AN APP BUG THAT REQUIRES FIXING!)

July 13, 2013

New day to the convicts on a still harsh and chaotic ice. It is close to the water that we will finally find a way to the north, in the meantime, every meter is torn at the cost of many efforts and hoist shots.

But it's fine, it comforts us and it helps identify the least harsh passages. AC also has the advantage of giving us every morning, a beautiful satellite map indicating the shortest path to the water spaces.

One also learns to move to a moving target, since our goal as we drift to suit winds and currents. Sometimes not easy to navigate between Cape tracing on the ice and one to leave on the bottom! Despite the conditions, tonight at camp, we savor all the riches of this first week of shipping.

LETS EVALUATE WHAT HAS BEEN OBSERVED SO FAR:
1) MANGO DELIVERED BABUSHKA TO BARROW ON JULY 2, 2013
2) BARROW SEA ICE CONCENTRATION ON JULY 2ND IS RECORDED IN THE
UPPER 85% WITH 95% CONCENTRATION VERY NEAR SHORE. A SIGNIFICANT MELT AREA OF ROTTEN ICE IS NOTED FORMING NW OF BARROW.

3. BABUSHKA IS DELAYED UNTIL JULY 5, 2013 FROM DEPARTING BARROW BY THE LATE ARRIVAL OF CREW AND THE CATAMARAN REQUIRING REPAIRS.
4. THE CONCENTRATION OF SEA ICE ON JULY 5TH IS SHOWN AS SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED FROM JULY 2ND AND THE ROTTEN ICE TO THE NW CONTINUING TO MELT BELOW 50% CONCENTRATION.

5. BAKUSHKA DEPARTS BARROW AND APPEARS ON A GOOD COURSE AND TRACK TO THE NNE. (SAT-VIEW TRACK IMAGES BELOW)
6. UNEXPLAINED BABUSHKA CHANGES TO A NW COURSE TRACK AND CONTINUES ADVANCING TOWARDS THE ROTTEN ICE.
7. BABUSHKA WAS REPEATEDLY ADVISED OF THE NAVIGATION ERROR AND ROTTEN ICE, YET DID NOT MAKE ANY CORRECTIONS. EVEN AFTER ACKNOWLEDGING RECEIPT OF THE ADVICE THEY SAID THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING.

THESE ARE GOOD EXAMPLES OF INEXPERIENCED HUMAN ERRORS. THEY DID NOT TRUST THEIR SUPPORT ADVISERS TO MAKE SIMPLE CHANGES. THEY THOUGHT THEY KNEW-IT-ALL.

NOW THEY ARE IN ROTTEN ICE CONDITIONS. WHAT WILL THESE KNOW-IT-ALL DARE DEVILS DO FOR THEIR NEXT STUNT? I SUSPECT THEY WILL RETURN TO OPEN WATER AND SAIL TO ???? (BARROW ALASKA OR MAYBE RUSSIA?)

CHECK BACK AND SEE... (COMMENTS WELCOMED BELOW)

UPDATE 20130712

STILL GOING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION IF THEY HOPE TO REACH THE NORTH POLE. BLAMING IT ON THE ICE IS LIKE BLAMING GLOBAL WARMING FOR MELTING THE ICE... YOU EITHER OVERCOME THE PROBLEM ELSE ALLOW IT TO RULE YOU... NEEDLESS TO SAY BOTH OF YOU ARE IN THE SAME BOAT GOING TOWARDS RUSSIA...

SO WHERE ARE THEY GOING? HERE IS THE PLOT - YOU TELL ME? ITS NOT NORTH TO THE NORTH POLE. THAT IS A GIVEN.

This morning, after watching ice charts sent by Kalou and Lise, we decided to retrace our steps to circumvent the dense patch of ice that prevents us from progressing. The ice has melted much since we left and we should be able to circumvent these plates from the south and returning to the pole in a more workable area. It was perhaps a little too eager to go to reach the ice, but without following the ice conditions of the year. And we pay! But we are in a great area and we will recover. We still advanced despite the current face.

BABUSHKA's GPS track line is very unusual - the direction from Barrow to the North Pole is NORTH. Instead they are now going to the WEST towards Russia. Something is wrong - anyone like to offer an explanation? Visual ice fog navigation error... not checking their GPS... trying to find better sea ice? Anyone? Comments are welcome below.

I sent them an urgent satcom advising that sat-track line is 275 and to check all electronics for errors and to proceed with caution.

Checking their blog I find no indication that they know of any problem:

July 9, 2013
Tonight at the camp, it was Vincent who cooks. It simmers us Parmentier chicken with carrots. We are finally beginning to feel the wide ice is less dirty plates are larger and whiter. The day began with sunshine and after 4.5 miles of open water ice has resumed his duties. At midday the mist fell, which greatly complicated the identification of feasible areas.

Comments are welcome below... please contribute what you think might be wrong.

Standing by and wishing them smooth seas!

20130710 UPDATE:

July 10, 2013
Today, the way the division offers fog and blocks in all directions, it is chaos with just water to bathe when the blocks on which we walk or run capsize. The boat is very busy at the beginning of shipping, it suffers and hurts men.
was eager to find more favorable conditions. If all goes well on board.
